Many say that music is a way of life. It is always there to comfort or brighten your day. There is always a song that you could relate to, and maybe, it could be “Guardian Soldier” by Colby Prince.

One of Menifee’s own, Colby Prince has had a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have his song recognized by people as it is being published by Apple’s widely known music store, iTunes. “I can’t find any other way to describe it, other than incredible.” Prince said.

Prince has been writing since he was fourteen years old, and has taken part of competitions in the past. “I was always kind of a poet lover, from Dr. Seuss to Edgar Allen Poe.” Prince said, “I got in to music because of the way it made me feel. It made me feel like I could connect to other just by using words.”

The song he has produced is titled “Guardian Soldier”, based on a family that lost a loved one in the military. “I wrote it because I didn’t know how it would feel to lose a loved one, so I tried to relate to those people through music and words.”

For his future plans, Colby said that he has been looking at colleges in Kentucky such as Campbell University, Morehead State and Georgetown. “I don’t plan on making a life out of writing music, but if it happened, I would take it.”
