Solar Eclipse and Eye Safety

A total solar eclipse is probably the most spectacular astronomical event that most people will experience in their lives. There is a great deal of interest in watching eclipses, but it must be done safely.  Because of this exceptional opportunity, there is concern that people will be more likely to stare at the Sun during this event.  Improper viewing of the Sun during an eclipse can result in eye injuries such as the development of "eclipse blindness" or retinal burns.  Please see article for more info.

Brenda Lawson Warren

(November 4, 1967 - December 3, 2015)

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the passing of Mrs. Brenda Warren, principal of Menifee County High School. Mrs. Warren has served the students of Menifee County since 1996. When staff members visited with her on Monday, she wanted the teachers and students of MCHS to know how much she loved and missed them. She was a dedicated educator, working tirelessly until her illness made it impossible for her to do so any longer. Her heart was with the students and teachers of Menifee County until the very end. Mrs. Warren was a dedicated mother and wife and our prayers are with her family during this time of loss.

Mrs. Warren requested that school continue on and that there be no loss of school days due to her passing. Visitation will be Saturday, December 5th at 3:00 in the gymnasium at Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 6th at 3:00 at Bethel Baptist Church Gymnasium.

High School Parent Survey

Dear High School Parents,

As you may already know, state test scores were released this month. Menifee County High School ranked 217th out of 228 high schools in the state. We must seek to make changes at our high school to improve student success. Please take a few minutes to provide feedback for improvement by responding to the following survey:  High School Parent Survey.  This survey will be open until October 21st.

The Menifee County School District would like to sincerely thank everyone that helped with the cleanup of Menifee Elementary and Menifee County High School. Many community members joined staff to remove water, mop and clean items. It's important to have so many good people partnering with our schools!

Menifee County Schools Uniform Code of Student Conduct Handbook

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the first Menifee County Schools Student Code of Conduct Handbook!  It is our hope that this handbook will not only provide information about our expectations for students, but will also serve as a means of informing you of all the programs the Menifee County School District and our collaborative community agencies provide to our students and families.  We want the handbook to be useful to you and hope you will refer to it throughout the year. If you have ideas for other issues we should address in our handbook, please don’t hesitate to contact us with your input.  This is your handbook!

The Menifee County Schools Student Code of Conduct Handbook will be located in the Quick Links section of the left of our website, as well as our Forms & Links page.  A direct link to the Menifee County Schools Student Code of Conduct Handbook can be found here.

Vision and Mission Statement Survey

After a series of meetings with school and community stakeholders, our current vision and mission statements were reviewed and new statements created to reflect an updated, shared vision.  While completing this work, we used the “We are Menifee Stakeholders” – a document that provides data on our community and school district’s current reality.   This group also created the “Values/Core Beliefs/Goals” document.    Those can be viewed here:  We are Menifee Stakeholders Data Updated for 10-15-2015 and Updated Menifee County Mission-Vision-10-08-15-Final.

We would like your input on the group’s work.   The following survey includes the draft vision and mission statements.  Please take a few minutes to give us your thoughts.  This survey will be open until noon on October 27thVision and Mission Statement Survey
