Parents and Students,
It is difficult to believe that we are in the final weeks of school for the 2018/19 school year. Our students have accomplished so many things this year. We still have work to complete before the end of the year. Teachers are diligently working to cover standards and review areas of weakness.
Our 3rd – 8th grade students recently completed the CASE 21 benchmark assessment. This assessment gave students a predictor for their KPREP score. It also told teachers standards that are lower for individual students and the entire grade. These are areas our teachers are reviewing to ensure our students have everything they need to be successful for end of the year testing. This also means that our students move on to the next grade more prepared.
At home, there are many things you can do to contribute to your child’s success for this final month. It is always important to ask you child about their day at school, what they are learning, and any areas they are struggling. Discussing current events and designated reading times are huge factors in contributing to their success. Students need plenty of sleep each night. When students come to school tired, they cannot focus on the content each day. The number one thing we need the last month of school is for your child to attend school each day. If students are not at school, it hinders their learning.
There are several important dates to remember for the month of May. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school at (606) 768-8351.
