Mandatory Training for All Employees for 2015-16 School Year

Mandatory training for all employees for 2015-16 school year:

At the start of the 2013-14 school year, all Kentucky school personnel were required to have annual training in positive behavioral interventions and supports pursuant to 704 KAR 7:160, The Use of Physical Restraint and Seclusion in Public Schools, Section 6(1).

Positive Behavior in Schools III: Bully Prevention, a free, online professional development training course, is now available! This year's training is two (2) hours in length.  The content provides simple strategies for implementing evidence-based, school-wide instruction to prevent bullying behavior. This practice is embedded within the positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS) content previously presented and does not represent a separate focus. As with previous modules, videos featuring Kentucky schools are presented to provide clear examples of the simplicity with which this instruction can be implemented.

While there is no requirement for districts to use this specific training, it satisfies the requirements of the regulation and is free to districts.

To enroll in PPBIS III: Bully Prevention, go to http://www.pbs.org/teacherline/catalog/courses/LEAD1103 and click on the enroll button.  You will need a PBS TeacherLine or PBS LearningMedia login to enroll.  If you do not already have a PBS account, you will be directed to create one.

You may also continue to access previous trainings.

Year 1 training may be found at http://www.pbs.org/teacherline/catalog/courses/LEAD1101

Year 2 training may be found at http://www.pbs.org/teacherline/catalog/courses/LEAD1102

If clicking on the link does not work for you, try another browser such as Firefox and enter the website address.  It will take you to the courses after you hit “details/enroll” (blue ink; italicized letters) at the bottom of the information section.  There is a small checkbox that must be checked before you hit the orange “enroll” button or it will not work.  If you use Firefox, you will need to look for LEAD1103.4.

If you have questions, please contact Dawn Hardeman at the Menifee County Board of Education office or dawn.hardeman@menifee.kyschool.us. Please try to have the modules completed and the certificate turned in to the principal and a copy to the board office by the first day of school.  Bus drivers, cooks and janitors:  You may want to contact your direct supervisor about setting up a time to do this as a group as has been done in the past.

*All employees= full-time certified & classified personnel; part-time certified & classified personnel (if applicable); cooks; bus drivers; janitors; substitutes for any positions; volunteers; coaches of any sport or academic extracurricular activity; any school board members who may be around the students frequently.
