Menifee Central Update

Breaking the Mold

Stakeholders,

As you know, we are working diligently to ensure Menifee Central is completed timely and efficiently.  We have great news to share.  All bids for construction were opened on May 16th.  This will enable us to potentially complete the entire building at one time.  This amount included items that we wanted but were not sure we could afford, such as canopies at the bus drop-offs and parent drop-offs, upgraded flooring, security glazing for the windows and doors, card readers at entries and a very nice LED sign out in front of Menifee Central.  The schedule for construction is 18 months.

The Board met on Tuesday, chose low bidders and approved the sale of bonds associated with this part of the building totaling $14,355,000.  The total project cost is $14,760,293.  See the break down below.  The difference between the bond amount and the total project will be paid by cash derived from cash savings from the Capital Outlay Fund - $5,569, the Building Fund ( Nickel Tax ) - $245,812, remaining SFCC funds - $128,912 and a $25,000 reimbursement from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

We added the demolition of MES and added $150,000 for furniture for the new building to our costs for this project.

Menifee Central Financial Plan Funds Available

There is already work being completed at 359 Wynn Flat Road.  The ground is being cleared.  I have attached a list of low bidders.  These are all reputable contractors.

Menifee Central Winning Bids

This is very exciting for our school district.  We came this far due to the hard work and support of Menifee County Schools’ staff and community.  This started with a goal and a yes vote.

We will continue to keep you informed as we proceed.
